Introduction to 新学院

The 新学院 (NFI) is a faculty learning community for new tenure-track faculty. It building on New Faculty Orientation with a series of six conversations over the full academic year. The Center for Teaching, 学习 and Design hosts this community, facilitated by Dr. Jeff Loats和Dr. 布丽姬特。艾伦.

In Part, we will discuss and learn from a book on effective teaching and learning. Most recently we have been reading 小的教学——詹姆斯·M. Lang, 3rd edition (provided to all participants). In addition to reading and reacting to this book, this community functions as a support group for new tenure-track faculty, and participants consistently say that the camaraderie is the best part of this group.

We hope you will finish this year-long endeavor with a stronger sense of community, a critical understanding of your teaching, a sense of support from your fellow faculty, and more connections to the university as a whole.
